Monks, temples and blue coffee in Chiang Mai.

Wat Phan Tao

Sometimes you are just lucky and we were lucky to get to Chiang Mai before Corona hit Europa.

Thailand is full of surprises every day has something new to offer, Chiang Mai is a lovely city up in the north of Thailand.

Our visit to Wat Phan Tao coincided with a Buddhist ceremony and it was amazing to see the temple being used as intended, with hundreds of monks, novices, and followers in procession to music. We went to visit the Wat Pra Singh temple and there was an orchestra of musicians playing the traditional instruments in the temple grounds. The sound was mesmerizing. The recording doesn’t begin to do it justice. We just sat in the shade until it was all over.

We came across this little place Buri Gallery Cafe, it is such is a cute place in the middle of the old city. Vibes were good, so we had a lovely sandwich, herbal tea and a beautiful blue coffee using flowers in the cafe. It was so lovely I just had to paint. You find Buri Gallery Cafe just opposite the main gate of Wat Prah Singh.

I loved the elephant teapot.
