Drawing challenge CREATIVITY TAKES COURAGE #portraitchallenge_2019

Art challenge

Salut Salut! Here are some photos of my work for the “Drawing Faces” art challenge  I did in my sketchbook in March #portraitchallenge_2019 , organised by artist  August Wren AKA Jennifer Orkin Lewis and ohn_mar_win.  I loved this challenge.

The challenge has been inspiring I will keep on drawing famous people that I like.

I painted the Swedish 16-year-old climate activist Greta Thunberg

I have been following here for some time now on Instagram and I am so impressed by the huge impact she has on the young kids.  I started to follow her in February and in just two months her followers have gone from 400 000  to 1.4 M! So when I noticed that Greta Thunberg had seen and liked my painting of her on Instagram, I was shaking a little. Greta on Instagram

Creativity takes courage.” – Henri Matisse

I also painted  Henri Matisse as maybe you know that he is my favorite artist? What I love the most is his use of colors, his color theory has influenced so many artists and designers after him. I always go back to him for some amazing example for teaching but most of all I go there for getting inspiration for my artwork.  His drawings are brilliant. You can learn so much by looking at the simple lines that tell so much.

.

And now I am in Cagnes sur mer preparing for my painting and drawing retreat in Vence next week!! It is in Villa Le Reve where Henri Matisse lived for some years. If you want to know more about my painting retreats you can read about them here.

Princess Diana was someone very special and to find a photo to paint was not easy, I love painting from photos, and to select the photo is half of the job, I have to find one that will look good as a painting and that shows the certain emotions I am after, something in the photo has to “speak” to me.

I also painted the fantastic artist/designer Iris Apfel, now 97 years and the fabulous Carmen Miranda, that I don’t know much about, but here hats are amazing. I just had to paint the great French writer and feminist #simonedebeauvoir and the American writer Elizabeth Gilbert #elizabethgilbert.  I love her books about creativity and especially The Signature of All Things.

New ideas can’t come if there’s no room for them to show up and an art challenge is a great opportunity to try things out and get inspiration and new ideas. You can find them on Instagram … and if you are on Instagram do come on over and say hi.

    1. Oh wow, Thank you so much. It was a challenge to do a good painting every day. I had to focus and make time. But I was forced to work and the feedback really helped me to keep going. Thank you so much for your support!
