Drawing and painting in my sketchbook
I went to Dublin in October, What a fantastic place to be a tourist. They are friendly, open and very hospitable people with a great sense of humor.
And what a great architecture to draw. I am walking around the squares and the Georgian style exteriors of the townhouses, the block of Georgian homes looks more or less the same except for their fantastic doors. Deciding which door is my favorite, and which one to paint. This is the best part of the sketchbook project!
Where is the perfect place to explore Dublin’s doors? Here are 3 beautifully places that are all located in a walking distance on the south side of Dublin city center in a concentrated walkable area.
Click here to see it on Google map
- Merrion Square is one of the most intact Georgian Squares, this square is near to St. Stephen’s Green. (Oscar Wilde live here)
- Lower Baggot Street This street is located near Merrion Square and has many beautiful doors along either side.
- Fitzwilliam Square The smallest of Dublin’s great Georgian squares and one of the last Georgian Squares built in Dublin. Many of the buildings are covered in ivy. The park in the middle of the square is only for the lucky residents who have a key.
If you are thinking of going to Ireland, you should just go.
Some Irish music by some Norwegian girls.
The doors are easy to spot and you can find lovely colored doors everywhere in the city.
